Your data, on your phone.

Salom Uzbekistan is a travel companion, not a data broker. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and the few third parties that touch your data.

TL;DR

  • No account, email, or phone number needed to use the App.
  • Profile, bookmarks, and lesson progress stay on your device, in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore.
  • No analytics SDKs, no advertising trackers, no social pixels in the App.
  • Content is delivered via Cloudflare. Subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat with Apple or Google.

01The short version

  • We do not require an account, email, or phone number to use the App.
  • Your profile, bookmarks, and learning progress are stored on your device, in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. We can't see them.
  • We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or social-media pixels in the mobile App.
  • The App's content (phrases, lessons, audio) is delivered over Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may log standard request metadata like IP address.
  • If you subscribe to premium, RevenueCat processes the purchase on our behalf and receives a device identifier and your purchase history.

03Information we collect

Information you give us

During onboarding the App asks for:

  • A display name or nickname — used to greet you on the home screen.
  • Your preferred interface language.
  • Your trip purpose (e.g. tourism, business, family) — used to surface relevant phrases.
  • Topics you're interested in — used to order content.

All of this is optional and stored locally on your device in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore (via Expo SecureStore). It never leaves your device. You can edit or clear it at any time from the Profile tab, or by uninstalling the App.

Information the App generates on your device

While you use the App we store, locally:

  • Saved phrases, lessons, and culture topics you bookmark.
  • Lesson progress — which items you've studied, quiz results, and a list of dates you opened the App for streak tracking. We do not store time-of-day or location.
  • Premium status cache — a small flag that mirrors whether your RevenueCat subscription is currently active, so the App can work briefly offline.

Information we do not collect

  • No email, phone number, or password.
  • No precise or approximate location.
  • No microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, or photo-library access. The App plays pronunciation audio but does not record audio.
  • No advertising identifiers.
  • No third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, Sentry, Meta SDK, etc.) inside the mobile App.

04Third parties that may receive data

Cloudflare (content delivery)

Phrases, lessons, culture notes, and pronunciation audio are served from content.salomuzbekistan.com, hosted on Cloudflare R2 and delivered through Cloudflare's network. When the App fetches content, Cloudflare may automatically log request metadata (IP address, user-agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. We do not link these logs to your in-App profile.

RevenueCat (subscriptions)

If you start a premium subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and recorded by RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier, your active entitlement (salom_premium), and purchase events (start, renewal, cancellation, refund). RevenueCat does not receive your name, interests, or learning progress.

Apple and Google (app stores)

The App is distributed by Apple and Google. Their stores collect download, crash, and transaction data per their own policies. We see aggregate, anonymized reports in App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

This website

salomuzbekistan.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not fingerprint visitors. We do not set advertising cookies and do not show a cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

05Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

06How long we keep data

On-device data (profile, bookmarks, progress) is kept until you clear it from the App or uninstall the App. RevenueCat retains subscription records for as long as required by Apple, Google, and applicable tax law.

07Your rights

Because almost all data lives on your device, you can exercise the strongest possible right — deletion — by uninstalling the App. You can also:

  • Edit or remove your profile fields from the Profile tab.
  • Unsubscribe from a premium plan via the App Store or Play Store at any time.
  • Request that we delete any record RevenueCat holds about your subscription by emailing us. Note that legal and tax obligations may require us to retain transaction records.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA (access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority). To exercise any of these, contact hello@salomuzbekistan.com and we will respond within 30 days.

08International transfers

Cloudflare and RevenueCat operate globally and may process data in the United States and other countries. The data they receive from us is minimal (request metadata, anonymous device IDs, purchase events) and they each maintain their own safeguards for cross-border transfers.

09Security

We rely on platform-level security: data on your device is stored in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. Network requests use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but the attack surface here is small by design — most data simply never leaves your phone.

10Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes.
